The basic rules

Good practices and a few rules

Be smart. Maintain control

Some advice so that you  always maintain control of your e-bike and to travel in complete safety:

  • Maneuverability — Depending on the pedal assisted bike model, take into account the increased weight of the bike and its maneuverability in slow traffic and on tight bends. Do some “agility trials” in an empty parking lot, it will definitely help you.
  • Never relax too much — With pedal assistance everything seems easier, but attention must always remain 100% on traffic and the road, especially during peak hours.
  • Itineraries — Once you have rented the e-bike, you have to decide where to go. It would be even better to already have an idea of the itinerary based on the weather, your abilities, the mileage and the elevation gain you intend to make.

Be safe. Always wear a helmet

The speeds are higher, and inevitably the risk of injury is equal to that of a muscle bike; if you fall while going faster you will hurt yourself more.

The helmet is provided with the rental of our e-bikes at no additional cost.

Think ahead. Leave prepared

Winter or summer, you travel faster, keep that in mind.

  • A rain and windproof jacket, as well as being useful in bad weather, protects against wind chill. Furthermore, in the summer months the weather conditions at altitude  are variable and not always predictable;  storms or heavy rainfall can arise quickly (especially in the afternoon) and it is always better to be equipped with a quality waterproof jacket, preferably with a hood.
  • Pocket-sized raincoat, the classic poncho: it always comes in handy, in any season. There are a variety of these available and when you purchase one make sure that it is sufficiently wide enough to cover your legs and feet also.  Be careful, if it is not specifically designed for bicycles it can end up in the spokes with unpleasant consequences.
  • A saddle bag with puncture repair kit is also included with the rental, but depending on the ride you are going to make, it would be better to have the following material with you in a backpack: telephone, water, energy bars or something similar, repair kit, pump , mini tool with allen keys, rain jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses and an inner tube suitable for the rented bike. The latter is provided with the rental and paid for only in case of use.

Plan your route. Don't rely on signs alone

Unless the ride is simple, in which case you can still ask us for advice about it.

If possible, it is advisable to have a topographic map of the area on a 1:25,000 scale, use a GPS or download an app on your smartphone that allows you to find the routes and understand how to get around, but be careful because the connection is not always stable on the hills;  the map (and knowing how to interpret it) remains the main tool.

Our advice is to rely on one of our guides;  the ideal solution for those who don't want to worry and want to enjoy the ride.  It is certainly worth the extra expense because they can also advise you on the difficulty and state of the routes and adapt accordingly, as well as providing assistance in case of a breakdown or any problems.

It is better never to ride alone if you don't know the area.

Travel safety. Respect the rules of the road

So, fasten your helmet and start pedaling.

If the tour includes sections on the road, remember that you must respect the traffic laws, ride in single file and do not pedal on the sidewalks.  In any case, always be careful, do not go beyond your capabilities and respect the environment and the other users of the paths, giving priority to pedestrians and horses.

Use only marked paths, leave no traces neither as trash nor as soil erosion (sudden braking) and avoid crowds and noise respecting the flora and fauna.

Never leave your bike unattended unless it is secured with a good lock.
