If you want to travel gentle hills, reach ancient medieval villages, this is the route for you.
This tour of 41 km with 550 meters of elevation gain requires good training even though it does not present any technical difficulties and on our e-bikes the climbs will prove to be much less tiring than expected.
It is only on dirt or asphalt roads, far from traffic and completely immersed in nature.
The departure from our location in Casona di Marano is convenient and there is ample secure parking where you can leave your parked car.
Just after the start, take the nature trail, a beautiful bike path, along the river, entirely unpaved, which leads to the town of Marano sul Panaro.
From this point, the road begins to climb, always gently until you reach Villabianca, where you can stop to admire the unique landscape of the surrounding plain.
Once you’ve set off again, the route continues downhill then continues first level and then slightly uphill until you reach the castle of Levizzano Rangone. Here we recommend a nice break to admire the ancient village and the Napoleonic cemetery.
Restarting is a gentle downhill, along streets with little traffic and entirely immersed in vineyards and olive groves that will take you to the ancient village of Castelvetro di Modena where you can admire the chessboard in the square and the tower in front..
The return from Castelvetro simply follows your outbound route that takes you back to Casona after pedaling about 3 hours and 10 minutes.
